Yes, lymphatic drainage is generally safe for most people. However, it may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions such as:
Congestive heart failure
Acute infections
Blood clots
Kidney issues Consult with your doctor before starting treatment if you have health concerns.
The number of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. Some people notice immediate results, while others may require a series of treatments for lasting benefits. For wellbeing I recommend once a month. If you are going abroad, I recommend a treatment pre and post flight (there is more information about this on my Instagram). If you have an event lymphatic drainage for the face and body can help you look and feel your best!
Lymphatic drainage is a wellbeing treatment which is becoming increasingly popular due to the benefits as it is non invasive but this requires upkeep and its not a one off treatment for those looking for the wellbeing results.
Many clients experience noticeable results after the first session, such as reduced puffiness, improved comfort, or a feeling of lightness. However, more significant results may require multiple sessions. If you are holding a lot of stagnant water in the body the first treatment usually helps rid of that and unblock any areas which are struggling.
The therapy involves firm pressure, rhythmic movements and is designed to be relaxing and comfortable. If at any point the pressure is too much please tell me and I can do it lighter. I do find clients that exercise regularly sometimes feel a bit sore in muscles which are tight, but this can actually help relieves the symptoms of DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).
Before: Drink water and avoid heavy meals.
After: Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol and caffeine, and rest to maximize the benefits. Light exercise is okay such as yoga and Pilates.
No, these are two distinct procedures. If you’ve had surgery, it’s essential to book the post-operative lymphatic drainage session. Post-op sessions take more time as they involve additional care, such as:
Assessing your compression garments
Providing guidance or adjustments, including cutting foam and padding to improve fit
Utilizing specialized taping techniques to support lymphatic recovery post-surgery
These specialized elements are not included in standard lymphatic drainage treatments
does it work for all shapes and sizes
Yes, lymphatic drainage is effective for people of all shapes and sizes. The lymphatic system lies beneath the layers of fat tissue, so individuals with higher levels of body fat may experience slightly different responses. Adjustments are made to ensure the therapy is beneficial and comfortable for everyone.
During a session, I will use specific techniques to gently stimulate lymph flow. The majority of the treatment is on the front of the body on the legs and tummy area as this is where the most lymph nodes are found.
While lymphatic drainage is not a weight-loss treatment, it can help reduce bloating, improve digestion, and contour the body by reducing fluid retention. It can also help reduce cortisol (stress hormone) which CAN (but not always) help with weight loss.

No referral is needed for most clients. However, if you are seeking treatment for a medical condition, your doctor may recommend it as part of your care plan. If you are pregnant please bring a letter from your midwife giving you the all clear.
Side effects are rare but may include mild fatigue, increased urination, or temporary swelling as your body adjusts. These are typically short-lived and indicate that your lymphatic system is responding. Some clients may experience headaches.
